history doesn't matter, i recall someone intoning, and i would ordinarily disagree, but w/r to unrecorded history, perhaps best to treat as "history does not matter", particularly when others attempting to use / misuse unrecorded history to create new history so as to justify alt-future

and, oh, such misusers would invariably try to high-grade / pick at whatever was recorded to give what they are pitching a very thin patina of reliability

so, best to ignore unrecorded history, especially when applicability of whatever is not even useful to begin with
