Shanghai Welcomes First Ever Dolby Cinema Located in the Shanghai Red Star Cinema World cityweekend.com.cn Shanghai's first Dolby cinema has opened its doors! Housed in the Shanghai Red Star Cinema World (??????) on Wuzhong Lu, the new cinema has 11 screens and is capable of seating up to 2,100 people. It also offers a LUXE Grand Theater, touting the film industry's first nanotechnology-created screen, which in layman terms translates to increased movie brightness without deteriorating image quality (important stuff now that basically all films are in 3D). The halls also come complete with Dolby Atmos, allowing for better surround system, and Dolby Vision. According to Dolby, the cinema is "designed from the ground up to provide the best sound, picture, and environment for any movie—letting you step into another reality and surrender to the story." When will the first public screening take place? We'll find out soon enough.
