What's strange is not seeing the obvious games some people play - like fake cheerleading for fun (what kind of antagonistic superiority mentality is that?). Agree with Don for sure.

But back to the science ...

The UIC nanoviricides using MUS gold nanoparticles confirm that the principle of NNVC's drugs is sound and works to destroy viruses.

Some differences:

UIC NP is only 2.5 +/- 0.7 nm in size, while NNVC's NPs has 20 nm (+/- ??) diameter.

For systemic use, from memory, I believe the 20 nm diameter nanoparticle will not be excreted by kidneys in a quick fashion, but it looks like the UIC one will be.

UIC NP uses gold, NNVC uses PEG based pendant polymer.
Don't know how hard it is (or expensive if using gold) to scale up UIC NPs versus NNVC's.
The authors said they could scale their MUS ligand up to 40 g scale reactions.
Their MUS-gold NPs were produced at 250 mg scale reactions.

How many NPs / mg material needed for a dose for clinical treatment? How much gold per dose?
Can it be made into a skin cream and will it work?

3x10^15 MUS-gold NPs per mg.

UIC MUS-NP hasn't been tested in animals yet.

Not sure how late after infection the nanoviricides were tested, but here they determined only out to 1 day after infection that the MUS-NPs still work in vitro.

Looks very promising though.

Merry Christmas to all, even the fake cheerleaders.
and Happy Winter Solstice to our moderator.
