The President's only problem with McCabe is his testimony backs up Comey's over the Presidents. Even if McCabe is fired before he can retire, his testimony will not change. Maybe the President wants his testimony to change and is just engaged in plain old witness tampering. This isn't Russia (yet) so he can't have him shot in the street, so he threatens his pension.
