Christmas sales up 5.8%

CBS reported that Christmas sales reached $598 million this year, up $33 million over last year, for a 5.8% gain. That is the biggest gain in Christmas sales in a dozen years. Last year, sales were up 3.6% after a 3.2% gain in 2015. The last time we had a gain larger than 5.8% was in 2005 when sales jumped by 6.2%. The chart.
