I used to have high respect for TJ, but I find this diminishing over time, though I do recognize his intellect. Regardless of what TJ proclaims he is somewhat of an elitist.
I see more and more on this board that TJ will chase away any dissenting views and any that would question his assumptions by ridicule and arrogant belittling, treating them as someone would treat a foolish child.
If anyone has the impudence to question or confront him regarding a statement or challenge his position (not many do) he seldom will engage in a debate preferring allegory and associations laced with mockery, scorn and resort to diversion tactics. I used to find this witty. Now not so much.
If faced with an uncomfortable fact or argument he often resorts to sophistry.

Very few people have the rhetorical ability and philosophical strength to counter this in support of their position, I know don’t. So it seems that he scores points and wins when there is no further discussion. Many times he hasn’t actually made his point, or won. No one wants to be constantly ridiculed and this stifles discussion.
Behind all this is the subtle hint of a fragrance of racial superiority (at this point TJ would recite his blood mix as proof that he can’t be racist and imply that any who thinks different is a fool, despite themany statements which dexterously imply a kind of pre-eminence that he has made)
In any case, I don’t intend to get into a discussion about this on this board with TJ or anyone else. Food for thought. That “Uncomfortable” feeling that some of you may have regarding remarks TJ makes….. but you just can’t put your finger on what it is that he said that made you feel that way…. That’s your inner conscience trying to say something isn’t right.
It took me awhile to get to this point, you can’t help but like TJ, I still do. He is, at heart, a good guy. I just didn’t want to accept what his remarks were implying (see Uncomfortable Feeling above) but I can’t deny this anymore. Despite his obvious brilliance I can’t ignore the flaws any longer… so I’ll say adieu to this board for a bit, no one will miss me, I was a lurker after all……..
PS. Just a nibble of food for thought for you TJ. Too many of your arguments for justifying your conclusions regarding China (housing, etc) sound like variations of “This time its different”. Could be hubris ? Is China…..really that different?
Unless there is an attitude change I see this board going the same way as Isopatches, that is only the faithful believers and agreers with TJ remaining. Not healthy….
