A minor note, if the Democrats take control of the House, they will install their own Speaker of the House. It will not be Paul Ryan, if I had to guess<g>. So the next question becomes will Pence be taken down by the investigations and, if that is the case, then it's very possible to see a senior Democrat from the House as your potential next President.
Tons of ifs, ands or buts......
If they get a majority in the House, they could plausibly impeach him. That only takes a majority.
But there is no way that they would get the two thirds in the Senate to actually convict him to remove him from office. Not unless his popularity among base Republicans seriously drops, which would make it possible for R Senators to vote against him. As long as he has a strong majority of the base still behind him, though, forget about it.
Besides, would we really be better off with Pence rather than Trump? Or Ryan, next in line? I doubt it.
Nancy Pelosi
On November 16, 2006, Nancy Pelosi, who was then Minority Leader, was selected as Speaker-designate by House Democrats. When the 110th Congress convened on January 4, 2007, she was elected as the 52nd Speaker by a vote of 233-202, becoming the first woman elected Speaker of the House.
