I think you have it wrong about salmon. That fish is probably the best. It is a cold water fatty fish (lots of omega 3's), lives in mostly the most pristine waters and has a short life span and so low in mercury. Four of the five species of salmon are only out for about 3 years.

Sardines would be near perfect, but they smoke them and that has carcinogens. And salmon taste good so people eat a lot of them. Salmon was my primary meat in Alaska for almost 50 years as I could get it fresh year around. I ate it several times a week.

<<BTW, the benefits only hold if it is small fatty unfarmed fish (e.g sardines, mackerels, monk). Salmon, tuna, and other big fish may actually be harmful.
