There is an inherent definitional problem: Everyone agrees that empathy and kindness are virtues, but those are attributes of people, not governments.

You view me as less empathetic and kind because I believe in small government and I recognize that people are best served by pursuit of their own interests.

Are Gates and Buffet empathetic and kind? Or do you find them to be selfish since they take all measures to avoid paying money to government?
