Jeanne Calment died in 1997 in Arles, France at the age of 122 +164 days. She attributed her longevity to eating a kilo of chocolate candy each week and a brandy on Sunday.

For health reasons Calment gave up smoking at the age of 114. At the age of 120 she recorded the hit rap song "Maitresse du Temps" 'Time's Mistress' to the tune of "La "Farnadole", an open chain community dance in France in her youth. She sold pencils and canvas to Van Gogh in her father's shop.

An interview at the age of 119. She tells some amusing anecdotes about her alcoholic husband.
