Here is the thesis of the mistake Bryon and you are making. In science they have a term called "knowledge directed perception". What it means is that you cannot see what you do not understand. The more knowledge anyone has the more they can see.

Like seeing Trump is the village idiot!

I absolutely think if someone goes to six years of college they will better be able to see what a duffus trump is.. If one group educates its people and another group doesn't, who do you think will gain and fail.

Try and tell the Jews, Japanese and South Koreans and most anyone else mass education is bad for society. That is a crazy idea. Democracy works best when the people are educated. that should be easy to see.

You got a masters degree. so you think people should do as you say, not as you do, and so does he. That is hypocritical.

And how come you don't understand the importance of education in developing the mind?

We are born a nomadic animal and are hard wired to live like that. But that mind does not work well in the modern technological society we have developed, so we need to develop a new existential mind that can.

Signaling is a crazy idea some one might think of stoned-lol. . There is a difference between signaling and learning. He is advocating not educating people so the uneducated don't have to compete. Modern technology requires people to have "skills". And yes companies are requiring more and more people to have advanced educations.

Why do you think that is so? I will tell you because an educated person can usually have the skills needed to do the job. It is not a matter of signaling, it is a matter of knowing how to do things.

Do you want doctors that don't go to medical school, lawyers, dentists, accountants, etc?

Both of my daughters were honor students and very intellectually worldly when they entered college and I asked them if college changed them and they both said: "a lot". For me it changed my life as I was so ignorant when I entered.

"
When some people stand up, then those behind them can't see so they, in turn, have to stand up until everybody has to stand up. The first ones to stand up are selfishly disregarding the externality, the impact on those at the rear. That's what happens with education signaling. It forces the signalers into ever more prestigious signals and it leaves those in the rear to grasp at signals to catch up. Over time things escalates until you'd have to signal an advanced degree to get a job as a store sales clerk. Who'd probably vote for Trump anyway because he'd still feel disenfranchised and resentful. Do you really think that six years of higher education will enlighten him to the point where he doesn't feel disenfranchised and resentful? Do you really think such an arms race is cost effective for society?
