<UDP(User Datagram Protocol)> is a connection-less packet protocol which is used heavily in internet traffic. TCP is the connection-oriented counter part of UDP, both at the transport layer using the IP protocol, the network layer. Connection-less basically means that a packet can be sent to the destination without having to establish a transport connection. One way of attacks is typically programming some code that take a bad formatted UDP packet and then ask the computer to send the packets to the desitination IP address and one of the UDP service ports of the server. In programming a simple version can be written in a few minutes.
