Several years ago, I took my DD214 to the DMV and was issued a driver's license with big, bold VETERAN printed right under my picture.

I have been pulled over twice, since, and had nice discussions with the officers about the time and nature of my service, received cautions about the infraction they had observed and thanks for my service.

The "VETERAN" license is also good for a free meal at California Pizza Kitchen (and many other places) on Veteran's Day.
