Kerry,

I'd better post a flurry of messages, because I don't know if I'll be able to get through to SI later. <g>

Since it looks like Brocade is going to get STK, I'll post the link that originally brought them to my attention.

network.com

"The StorageNet Fibre Channel Switch 4000 is used to connect fibre channel servers to fibre channel disk drives, disk arrays, and tape drives. Additionally, the StorageNet Fibre Channel Switch 4000 is used when you need to increase the performance of the shared bandwidth loops created by fibre channel hubs. The StorageNet Fibre Channel Switch 4000 is a multiport switch that supports both fiber optic and copper fibre channel interfaces. The StorageNet Fibre Channel Switch 4000 will connect to fibre channel end points and to fibre channel arbitrated loops."

When I first saw this paragraph, I figured that the likelihood of it being an Ancor switch was high, since Brocade wasn't yet shipping Arbitrated Loop. The lack of an announcement by Ancor, and the imminent availability of AL from Brocade would tend to support your view that this is probably a Brocade deal.

Seeing Morgan Stanley's name attached to Fibre Channel is interesting. How do they compare (size and stature) with Morgan Keegan, Robertson Stephens and Montgomery?
