I'm afraid Andrew is right on this, Dan. I am a software developer and I write "dual-use API's" quite often. Basically, what hapens is that you write a function once. you compile it into a DLL (Dynamically linked library) for windows use, and you link it statically for DOS (it becomes part of the EXE).

I have heard the you must be running under Win95 to use the internet-multiplayer aspect of MOO2. This IS consistant with the API model that most online services use.

I've been following your thread since its beginning, as well as tracking the MOO2 release date. Electronics Boutique is listing the release date as 10/20 for now. Other internet sources still have the date listed as 10/1. Of course, we've seen this date slip before, so I'm still betting on the Christmas push.
