yes, absolutely. I've said it before. This is another tax cut we did not need (Bush Jr's was the other one). There's some good stuff in there, though. For example, I do agree with the changes they've made so companies can repatriate the money held overseas. I also think our taxes are too high. However, I'm a big believer in a balanced budget and paying down the debt. I would never have signed off on a tax bill that isn't paid for with cuts today, not kicking the can down the road. The GOP lost its soul on this issue starting with Reagan, as you pointed out. I loved Reagan. He was a great leader and communicator, but he was a spender for sure. Every Congress since then has spent big, except when George Bush Sr. sided with Congress to increase taxes and then shortly thereafter Clinton and Gingrich were able to bring spending under control relative to boom time tax revenues. Those were brief moments of sanity. The rest of the time, we've been under the "Deficits don't matter" regime of insanity. And everyone wonders why our standard of living is declining? Geez. This is a classic case of why everyone should be required to take and pass Economic 101 and then also required to read and pass tests on Austrian economic models, as well as Keynesian, so they can have a true understanding of what works and what doesn't.
