I didn't know SE Alaska had a 'gun violence' hang-up. When I lived there, there wasn't a sign of it. However, California, western Oregon, and western Washington should be combined into one anti-gun state and leave eastern Washington and eastern Oregon the heck alone. I live in eastern Washington. Our sheriff makes it easy and inexpensive to acquire a Concealed Weapons Permit, and a very significant portion of our population takes advantage of it. The result is, we also have a very low violent crime rate.
