As individuals, companies and nations bankrupt, with the wealth they had that disappeared, also goes the power/influence they had when they possessed it. They unwhittingly/unwillingly give it to their new benefactors who now give them the conditions/requirements of the new relationship. Just as you can import/export inflation you can import/export hegemony. Ron
