Objective observation is the cause of cognitive dissonance. When observed reality collides with imagined reality, it's the imagination and internal reality that gets brutalized and has to change. That's what cognitive dissonance is. A seriously good dose of it is very psychologically disruptive ... speaking from experience. Having an adaptable psyche that isn't too attached to one's own sense of reality is helpful in adapting to reality once the smash happens. Mqurice
