Well, there was Bush Sr., who signed off on tax increases, after saying, "Read my lips. No new taxes." He did that because he thought it would be good for the country to be fiscally responsible. But those days are long gone. I agree with you that there are no real fiscal conservatives left in this country. Everyone is irresponsible. I might be one of the only few economic and fiscal conservatives left alive.
