From TechWeb Gates Announces Windows CE deal with TCI (01/11/98; 2:39 p.m. EST) techweb.com TCI has agreed to embed Windows CE and WebTV technology in up to five million set-top boxes, due to be deployed by early next year. This is in addition to the Sun agreement (http://www.techweb.com/wire/story/TWB19980109S0008), where TCI would embed PersonalJava in up to 12 million set-top boxes. Developers would then have the choice of developing either for Windows CE and WebTV or PersonalJava, Gates said. ===================================================================== It look's like Gates signed an exclusive deal with TCI and WEB TV for up to another 5 million set-top boxes. Sun still participates with TCI and MSFT for the initial 12 million boxes. After re-reading Plesha's post No. 6656 this article ((http://www.msnbc.com/news/135753.asp) confirms the deal with TCI and WEB TV. Remember the source MSNBC too. Leave it up to MicroSoft to try to upstage McNealy. I am sure we have not heard the end of this battle. EKS
