Japan is just fine. The panic about old people is as absurd as the panic by The Club of Rome.

They were wrong about the population bomb in Japan, China, Italy, Iran, looks like even India. And a lot more besides.

People who are old can do things. My 94 year old uncle drives his ute and shovels stuff by the truckload. He got a truckload of wood chips admittedly last year so he was only 93. He didn't move the whole lot in one go. Not everyone who gets old is helpless.

Our son when 16 living in Japan had an elderly host grandmother tending to him. She was well into her 80s. He said it felt weird to not be the one getting her things.

It's pleasant and peaceable with a lower proportion of stupid young hooligans jumping around the cage.

Japan can very easily live on 70 years of rapid development. The Yamanote line and Shinkansen work just fine. Toyota can make electric cars with robots. The cars can be robots. Robots can plant and harvest rice.

No worries. Shrinking populations are fine. Especially as quality continues to improve. And we have barely started on genetic engineering backed eugenics.
