David,

I was at a camera store this weekend and checked out the Olympus and the Casio along with the Kodak cameras. I thought the DC210 from kodak was the best camera, but it was the most expensive. The Olympus and the Casio used the SmartMedia card. The SmartMedia card was less expensive per megabyte than the CompactFlash card.

Question for you:
Can you do some patent research and tell us if the SmartMedia card would violate any SanDisk patents? Any serial ATA style interface? If so, we can assume that they are paying a royalty to SanDisk. In essence, we need to know if SanDisk would be getting any royalties from that format. The company is not talking about its license agreements.

If you need some questions answered about the technolgy, pease post.

It seems to me that the SmartMedia is the biggest competitor.

Rex
