I can't claim to actually understand this stuff. It seems like an incredible scam to me, with most people getting burned when the music stops, as with the dotcom bubble and the financial crisis of 2008. But it seems that a new group of people lines up to get rich or get scammed every few years. It isn't just a US phenomenon at all, it is a worldwide craze.
