| | | | I agree with that. Democracy is dead. We are already seeing how corrupt the security agencies like the FBI are. The deep state has won. The only thing that gives me one iota of hope is that with all the forces arrayed against him, Trump still won. He won it by being completely brazen, and yes, lying through his teeth with enough truth mixed in to get the votes. But I would argue that if he hadn't done that, he would have lost. The FBI, the DOJ, Obama, Hillary, even his own GOP party, all wanted Trump to lose. But the American people still handed him the Presidency. That is true Democracy in action. However, those same forces are still arrayed against him and are hindering his Presidency at every turn. That is evidence of a very dysfunctional Democracy. China is right to make fun of it. We're sclerotic. We need to clean house and get a 3rd party. Our system is showing its age. I like Parliamentary systems. They can be slow, but they are inclusive and far more Democratic. Also, they are less susceptible to the corruption inherent in a two party system, like ours. |
