As a wise man once said, the best works of art are about love and war, the cheap ones are about sex and violence. The same goes for sci-fi. The best sci-fi or fantasy story is not really about gadgets and goblins. It is about conceptualizing a serious human issue and letting it develop in setting free of some of everyday constraints. Battlestar Galactica is not really a violent show. But it does evoke visceral emotions because of the framework they utilize. It is one of the best shows I've seen. imdb.com Note the high viewer rating.
