Bill, Why the f should the gop, the dimms or anyone else in government help people get an abortion? You want us to pay for it? Let them get their own freakin abortion if that's what they want and leave the rest of us out of it. On a tangent, this is the reason why liberals these days have become very hostile toward libertarians.
In the past, when it came to social issues, liberals and libertarians shared similar goals. Get the government out of the bedroom, decriminalize drug possession, separation of church and state, legal abortion, recognition of LGBT rights, etc.
But these days, liberals have moved from legalizing behaviors that conservatives once called "sinful" to getting the government to fund these behaviors.
Want an abortion? Yeah, it's legal for the most part, but now the government has to pay for it.
Just came out as gay? Congrats, you can now get married and adopt children. Oh wait, you also want to force everyone else to accept your lifestyle? Great, sue anyone who doesn't. The government has your back.
Legalize pot? Congratulations, more and more states are legalizing it. But wait, that's not enough. We now have to give grants to new pot-selling businesses, because banks still won't lend to them.
This is what liberalism has become these days. Instead of staying focused on social issues and maintaining liberal values, they now want more and more power so that they can force their values upon the rest of society.
And that's where SleazZpat is coming from. "What have the Republicans done to help a woman kill her unborn baby?" The only context in which this isn't such a stupid ass question is one where liberals get to dictate every aspect of society.
Because their ultimate goal is utopia. And we all know how utopia ends up.
