There's a company called Who Vision Systems that has a Tactile-Sense technology, which reads fingerprints. They claim the cost of their reader will add only $25 to a monitor or keyboard. Standalone readers will cost $99. The reader is a stamp-sized sheet of peizoelectric plastic. The image of the finger is digitized and encrypted after being read. Taiwan's Mag Technology, a leading maker of monitors, has signed on to produce 35 million pads for
its monitors and for other manufacturers.

Full article is in 1/19 BusinessWeek (just out), pg. 81

Never heard of Mag Tech and doubt they'll come anywhere close to 35 million but wanted to post it anyway because it sounds interesting.
