Did they say anywhere how they got this huge charge? I'd love to understand it. I'm not sure, but I think it comes from a one time reduction in the value of their tax loss carry forward amounts. If they had a tax loss carry forward asset that was worth $1 million at 36% tax rate, that same asset is only worth $500,000 at an 18% tax rate. Something like that. Lower future taxes means their "tax loss assets" are worth less in the future.
