1/26/2018 Contest update
Not much seems to rattle biotech investors these days. And despite failure by Solid Biosciences to disclose a clinical trial hold in a timely manner its IPO still managed a more than solid debut, closing up 41% on its first trading day. The week’s gain in the Contest median and biotech indexes also evidenced investor exuberance.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up a remarkable 16.24% YTD (vs. up 7.91% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI), was up 10.67% YTD (vs. up 4.99% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI), was up 13.49% YTD (vs. up 4.89% YTD a week ago), with the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI), up 8.73% YTD (vs. up 6.27% YTD a week ago).
Back in the Contest lead is STEVEL’ portfolio, up an eye-popping 29.31% YTD, with both second place KEOKA’s portfolio, up 28.90% YTD, and third place JULIUS’ portfolio, up 27.51% YTD, also posting mind-boggling gains.
The overall performance of Contest portfolios was also astonishing.
At Friday's close, 61 of the 62 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 51 beating the NBI and 43 beating the SPSIBI.
The 230 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 14.10% and a median YTD gain of 10.25%.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: RKDA & ZSAN both did 1-20 reverse splits.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a relaxing weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
