Honestly, I don't think cursing has any meaningful correlation to IQ. Anecdotally, I've come across EXTREMELY intelligent people who never curse. I'm in Mensa and in real life, especially when I was a business executive and around my family, I almost never cursed, because I was taught that it was low class and that in business, the first to curse and lose their cool lost the argument. I had a good friend, who was also Mensa BTW and VP at a very large tech firm, who cursed like the former marine he was. In addition, my wife curses like a sailor and sometimes, when she's doing laundry, I can hear her talking to herself and cursing. It's pretty funny, actually. Anyway, so my own experience refutes the correlation between cursing and IQ.

I think Trump is actually a pretty smart person, meaning his IQ is high. However, his EQ, or Emotional Quotient, is very low. In fact, I think his EQ is child like. Most of his responses to frustrating circumstances are child like. He throws tantrums. He curses. He has tweet storms. He says my button is bigger than yours. He says he has big hands, when Rubio accuses him of having small hands. In short, he acts like a child when he's under stress. I also believe he's a narcissist. When you look through that lense, you can start to make sense of why he reverts to child like responses, given the withering, non-stop, anti-Trump resistance against him. At the core, he wants to be liked by his audience and he wants to be seen as smart and effective. In his old world, he received adulation automatically because he was essentially the dictator of his businesses. The Presidency is very different. It still has enormous power, but it requires an extreme amount of collaboration and maturity to handle it well. Trump is lacking in those skillsets. That doesn't make him stupid or low IQ. But his low EQ is debilitating. Even his supporters wish he had higher EQ.

Having said all that, his solutions to some of the intractable issues we have, shows he has high IQ. He gets that bilateral deals equate to marginal pricing, which maximizes the benefit for the US. He understands that one size fits all deals like TPP ultimately require a massive subsidy from the US and are bad for us. He understands that illegal immigration is out of control in this country and we need common sense solutions like expanding DACA, but increasing border security, while moving to a meritocracy based immigration system and limiting immigration from countries where massive amounts of terrorists are known to operate. He understands that by unleashing businesses through tax reform and lowering regulatory hurdles, we can also unleash the animal spirits of capitalism, which will drive prosperity. He understands that the middle class was left behind by the last administration and by catering to them he built a powerful base of support for his Presidency. So Trump is no dummy, although he certainly knows how to rub everyone the wrong way.
