Here's a wave count of the Argentine Merval Stock Index.

And here’s a chart of the USD/Argentine peso. In 2008 1 USD got you 3 pesos. Today 1 USD gets you 19.549 pesos.

With such a depreciation of the local currency were did the Argentinean park their money. Argentine Govt. Bonds? No. Gold? Well you need more pesos to buy USD to buy gold.

So for now they parked pesos in the Merval

In 2008 the Merval was at 819 and yesterday the close was 35126 or 43 times your money. More than enough to outpace the depreciation in the peso.
