Humans have only witnessed a small percentage of geologically threatening events that can evaporate the ground beneath our feet. Life will go on with or without human consciousness to witness it. In the overall scheme of things it is just a test, to see if our great brains can propel us to the next level. The universe has built in protocols against the wrong type of monkey achieving too high a status. If I was a river-boat gambler like Koan I would place heavy bets against humans advancing much further. Unlike Koan, if I lost my bet I would pay instead of welch like he does.
