| | | ...forgot where I read it, but there are opinions out there that once the resistance to autonomous automobiles abates, the demand for privately owed cars will begin to crash as people will find it much cheaper to call for a car as needed. No big initial cash outlay, no insurance to worry about, no fueling to deal with, no maintenance costs, no parking issues or garage space required, no personal or vehicle licenses required, no worries about the teen kids using it, and more.
Very profound changes coming to our cities and suburbs because of this, and perhaps sooner than some can expect, though I will always hold fond memories of my Tahiti blue, 1975 Jensen Healey with a 5-speed (standard) racing transmission. |
