Michael, at first I was skeptical of Focus Enhancement but had a very nice exchange with hilary who gave me more insight into the co. and I have been following it ever since. Good for you on your 80% return. Now is this a long term hold? What will you say if it loses 50% this year? What about all the folks who bought at $6 and are down 50%?

I have an interest in watching Focus, it's certainly 'in play' in a very competitive field, although I wonder why the stock ran up the way it did, perhaps something to do with the warrants.

You have to be fair to the people who put together threads like this. People are sometimes asked to follow certain criteria (though I have tried to be open here in spite of obvious personal preferences)...it is impossible to understand a new company when all people do is come on and start barking symbols, chirping about their trading profits, etc. Focus turned out to be relatively interesting. If you go back to the 1997 thread however, you can see how hard it would have been to know that, with the jumble of small cap stories being told right and left. I checked out some of the 'hot' biotechs that were recommended there and of course many of them were recommended at their highs, and are not sound companies.

I think the 1997 results give us a reality check. A portfolio of recommendations which was actually kept track of lost 36% in 1997. A lot of investors (although not in index funds) and traders (though of course none on SI, oh no) probably lost 36% too..."where are the customers' yachts"?

People like to remember their successes and choose their time frames and benchmarks to put a nice spin on their returns. Mock portfolios like this are the acid test.
