When Democrats controlled the Congress for 40 years after WW2 we created the largest economy, middle class, and military in human history. We even put a man on the moon in our spare time.

Then tax cutters got power under Reagan and the US went from being the largest creditor nation in the world to being the largest debtor nation. Reagan literally took us from the top to the bottom in just a few years.
