Hi J,

Precisely what I have been thinking. What happens to the Agileplan opportunity if a broadcast dish can be eliminated, reducing SatCom hardware costs further and KVH becomes a direct broadcaster to the mobile markets using a hybrid mobilecast/broadcast solution? They are in a unique position to capitalize because they are the only end to end solution available. Success at sea would scale even further to remote environments on land. Agileplan growth could be huge.

You highlight an interesting point regarding acquisitions. One has to wonder, do they need that or is some kind of partnership a better solution since traditional broadcasting is transitioning and losing market share to new OTT solutions. If an acquisition is in the cards, who provides international broadcast solutions? Seems like an open slate given regional rules and regulations have prevented global broadcasting in the past. Using internet protocols changes that dynamic. Anyway we look at it, It’s clear KVH needs to make some chances in the content approach. Maybe this has been the plan all along. Provide a stopgap OTT solution on the way to a hybrid solution for when HTS is up and running? Time will tell. I was thinking originally that the IntelsatOne approach offers such a solution but I’m not sure Intelsat wants to get into the business of competing with its customers.

It would sure be nice to see ip-mobilecast live up to it’s true potential.
