It's true that confronting conquerors causes them to gear up and attack but the alternative is worse. I have here a Tarkan book by Sezgin Burak late of Istanbul delivered to us about 15 years ago by a friend of their family visiting NZ. Our son Tarken was named after the character. In those stories Tarkan and his wolf would ride far east to confront the evil Chinese/Mongols. Those battles continue to this day. During the Crimean war one of my great great grandfathers was injured at Crimea and died from his wounds. Back then everyone was rampaging everywhere.
