IDT 4640 design WIN!!!

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 1998--Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT) announced today that the company's
pace-setting IDT RV4640(TM) CPU at 100 MHz was chosen to be the main processor of the I-Cube(R), Inc. ''Raptor'' Fast Ethernet switch
reference design.

The Raptor board is a reference design for the LanSwitch (LS) SwitchSet(TM), I-Cube's Fast Ethernet semiconductor chipset. Raptor includes a
printed circuit board (PCB) populated with the LS SwitchSet and a second PCB hosting the microprocessor subsystem. The two PCBs
communicate through a PCI bus. IDT's RV4640 microprocessor is the central part of the PCI mezzanine card (IDT7M9510) manufactured and
supplied to I-Cube and to its OEM customers by IDT.

''The Raptor reference design offers I-Cube customers a new standard for performance and quick time-to-market for Fast Ethernet switching
chipset solutions,'' said Kent Dahlgren, I-Cube vice president of strategic marketing & product architecture. ''Key to Raptor's success has been
IDT's high-performance RV4640 CPU implemented on a PCI mezzanine card, as well as the broad range of support we received from the
company.''

Raptor is a complete 16-port, full-duplex, 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet switch utilizing I-Cube's Fast Ethernet LS SwitchSet. It features an uplink
interface capable of supporting Gigabit Ethernet, ATM and numerous additional backbone and WAN interfaces. The RV4640 runs full simple
network management protocol (SNMP), including RMON, MIB II, Spanning Tree (802.1d) and VLAN, enabling the Raptor to offer cost-effective
full network management capability. The reference design includes assembled PCBs, software and a complete design database and manufacturing
kit with schematics, Gerber files, software source code and application notes.

''I-Cube's choice of our 7M9510 PCI mezzanine card, powered by IDT's high-performance RV4640 RISC processor, will enable our mutual
customers, networking systems OEMs, to achieve high-performance, cost-effective network management capability,'' said Dave Cote, IDT vice
president of marketing. ''Additionally, the off-the-shelf, system-level solution IDT provides will allow customers to race from initial prototyping to
volume production at the rapid pace demanded for leadership in the exploding Fast Ethernet market.''

The IDT7M9510 CPU-based PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC)

The 7M9510 PMC is packaged in an industry-standard (IEEE1386), low profile form factor, and can either form the core CPU function for an
embedded application like the Raptor or can be incorporated as an optional add-in accelerator to a PCI-based system. Additional 7M9510
features employed in the Raptor design include dedicated DRAM/Flash memory, two serial ports, and hardware-based masking of interrupts. The
7M9510 also contains a user-programmable PLD to facilitate custom features.

About the IDT RV4640 CPU

The IDT RV4640 combines a true internal 64-bit execution core (full 64-bit ALU and 64-bit wide registers) with a 32-bit bus interface (supporting
over a 260 MBps bandwidth) to help realize the low system cost. The 35mm2 CMOS device is manufactured with a 0.3-micron L(eff) process,
and runs on 3.3 volts. When operating at 180 MHz, the processor achieves more than 235 Dhrystone 2.1 MIPS performance, and 1.4 GBps
internal data movement bandwidth.

IDT's World-Class MIPS RISC Family

The RV4640 is an important member of IDT's broadly-accepted 32/64-bit RISC microprocessor family based on the MIPS(R) instruction set.
Offering a wide range of software-compatible, price/performance choices, IDT has optimized the designs of its high-performance microprocessors
for use in an assortment of embedded applications, including internetworking, consumer, data communications and telecommunications products.

Superior price/performance, low power consumption, small form factor and the availability of extensive development tools have made the IDT
MIPS RISC family the microprocessors of choice for several leading companies. For example, IDT processors power Cisco 7200 Series(TM) and
7500 Series(TM) routers, Extreme Networks' Summit1(TM) LAN Switch, Yurie Systems' LDR200(TM) ATM concentrator and Lucent
Technologies' GSM BTS-2000/2C(TM) base transceiver station. Household products include two generations of WebTV(R) receivers; EchoStar's
digital broadcast satellite receiver; Hughes Network Systems' DirectPC(R), and home connectivity equipment provided by leading cable modem
companies.
