Warrant applications are often made on testimony of shady people, criminals, drug dealers, etc. Christopher Steele wasn't even shady, he's a retired senior spy master for an allied country.


Digging up dirt on opponents is legal. How else would we find out about it? Much better to dig up dirt than simply make shit up like Lying Don.


If an investigator finds dirt on a candidate, offering it to the FBI and even trying to publicize it is the right thing to do.
