The Russian government has made a project of turning Americans against each other,” Bush said during a forum in New York in October. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Bush’s remarks.

In a lot earlier post on this board I quoted from a book by ILy Gerol a Soviet professor who worked in the Kremlin before defecting to Canada to teach in a university.
He stated Russia has a long planned strategy of sewing discontent to undermine trust in each other and cause disruption amongst it's people. He said much the same in a speaking engagement he had that I attended.

That was more than 25 years ago. It was hard to imagine at the time. But it seems to have came to pass. Americans in that era were pre millenials with attitudes very different than present. Patriotism was first and foremost. once an election was decided by due process. For the rest of the term all fell in line to help push the country forward for the term.

JFK' most famous quote comes to mind " Ask not what the country can do for you. But rather what I can do for my country " It seems no matter which party is in power, Those words have long been forgotten. Both by the people and those in office.

I coined a phrase America used to be " My country first Today it's, All About ME "
