The Coming Democratic Catastrophe The two elections of Barack Obama were aspirational uplifting elections. Democrats went to the polls to uplift the Country to a new level by electing a black man as President. The election of Comrade Chump was an election driven by fear and anger. While Obama ran a clean administration he was suckered by Goldman Sachs and the Federal Reserve to keep interest rates at zero. This created the greatest transfer in history of wealth to the very rich. Many working Americans, especially those with out college degrees or the wrong college degrees didn't participate in the recovery. The Democrats, had a political tin ear to all of this and ran another aspirational race in 2016 and were narrowly beaten by Chump's fear and anger message, despite Chump being a uniquely repugnant individual. The 2018 and 2020 elections are likely to be fear and anger elections. Voters are angry that Chump was elected because they failed to turn out. White women are angry at Chump and the Republicans who represent male domination of women since the beginning of time. Everyone on the left fears what Chump and the Republicans will do if Chump gets another four years. Into this mix Chuck Schumer and the Democrats just handed Chump and the Republicans a huge victory. The Republicans will take full credit for this budget deal demonstrating that they can in fact govern. Schumer has made them less scary and has diluted the anger. No matter how inept the Democratic leadership is they will pick up some seats in Congress in 2018. If, however they attempt to run another bullshit aspirational race using the Dreamers as their centerpiece they will fail to end the scourge of Chump and the Republicans. Chump and the Republicans need to be demonized to win back the Country. Fear and anger will drive turnout, and women will be the key to the election. IMHO.
