Unfortunately, I can not visit the thread, View from the Center, because they banned me from the thread and called me a Repugnican. They are not a view from the center, but rather, a view from the far left. The strangest thing for me is that this is all deja vu. The Dems complained very loudly about how badly the GOP and conservatives treated Obama when he was first elected. I remember, because I was irritated that conservatives simply could not accept the election outcome. Now the Dems are doing the same thing. It amazes me that they can't see the hyperbole in all of this. They have become the people they claim to despise, but they don't see the hypocrisy in it. I wish we had far more centrists and Independents. This bifurcation is maddening and unproductive.
Having said all that, I too find it very hard to find common ground with people who believe Socialism, Universal Basic Incomes, and mass welfare. It's hard to argue logic with people that simply don't understand the laws of mathematics or the lessons of history. I wish more people would spend time learning about what Socialism has done to countries like Venezuela, Cuba, Argentina, the USSR, China, etc. Then perhaps they would begin to understand why we don't want to go down that road and why the distance we've already traveled down that road can be almost directly linked to some of the root causes of the downturn in prosperity we're seeing in this country. |
