Venezuela was and is a dictatorship, not a socialist nation. And the dictators were , are stupid and criminals. The right wing uses Venezuela as a red herring to denigrate needed social programs they don't even understand and to cast aspersions on Democrats and liberals and it is stupid.

The right wing throws this socialism word around all the time and have no idea what they are talking about.

All countries are either democracies or dictatorships of one type or another. There are NO socialist countries.

And all democracies have varying degrees of socialism according to what the people want.

It is that simple. America is no different than any other western democracy.
