While NK may seem nuts to some to spend so much money when the nation is so impoverished, the same could be said for the US (or any other nation). What a waste? Or is it...? I used to like to tease my friends (mostly "liberals") that we should be saying prayers of thanks every night to George Bush for invading Iraq to ensure an uninterrupted supply of cheap oil so we could continue living the easy life... To me, the obvious solution (which others consider treason and madness) is to learn to live with some self-restraint. (ie how Jimmy Carter was mocked for suggesting Americans turn down the thermostat and put on sweaters) This takes military/political/economic pressure off the whole world giving everyone some wiggle room to find solutions. NK, in their own strange way, is just trying to do what every other nation tries to do: make a go of it...
