Paul -

As always, thank you for your very informative response.

Re: "AMD [has] a tremendous die size (K6) advantage over Intel's Pentium II and Deschutes"

Its hard to argue with the success of Intel's strategy, but I'd like to ask a question about your statement: If Intel was able to manufacture their chips at a much higher circuit density while maintaining their yields, then they would be even more profitable. What is it about local interconnect that allows AMD/IBM to achieve this higher density, how difficult would it be for Intel to learn this technique, and would using this technique neccesarily result in lower yields?

Aaron

PS - I've heard that the author wrote about you in the book "Inside Intel." It'd be fun to learn a bit about who I've been conversing with. Would you recommend this book or is there a better one?
