zzpat, let me tell you something from very long experience. Why do you think lawyers will always tell you, even when you are completely innocent, never to talk to law enforcement of any kind unless you have a lawyer present? It is because law enforcement always has information they will use against you. For example, in this case, the FBI and Mueller had full transcripts of what Flynn said in certain situations. They then asked him to remember the verbatim conversations and actions he took way back when. They caught him in inconsistencies, which the FBI agents in attendance did not think were intentional, but rather par for the course for pretty much anyone in a similar situation.

If I took a transcripted recording of a conversation you had with your wife from 2 months ago and then questioned you on it, I guarantee you I can entrap you into a misremembered quote or into statements that are inconsistent with the recordings. Why? Because memories are imperfect. The problem is that if there are inconsistencies between your memory and law enforcements recordings, then they can charge you with lying to the law and obstruction of justice, if they are going after someone you misremembered things about.

That is why lawyers are necessary to protect the innocent. Flynn thought he was doing a favor to colleagues from another branch and didn't insist on having a lawyer present. I'm sure those FBI agents, including Comey encouraged him to think that as well. This was a setup. They wanted to entrap Flynn, so they could lever up to get Trump. The whole thing is a sham. Anyone who has some experience with the law can see what a sham it is and that Flynn was entrapped. Even now, if Flynn wanted to spend the money on a good lawyer to overturn his coerced guilty statement with the FBI, I bet it could be done. The means, methods, and context of his entrapment stink to high heaven and an unbiased judge would throw out that document. Unfortunately, that kind of fight would bankrupt Flynn and he has a reasonable chance of getting off with nothing but a slap on the wrist as it stands now, because the FBI and Mueller know that he's just a patsy and a tool to use against Trump. That's what they did it for.
