Maybe you're younger, I don't know. But in the late 60s-early 70s, pretty much everyone with a truck had his gun rack and a couple rifles. No, I never saw one walking around the school with one, but if someone had a reason to bring it to a classroom there would have not been a freak out incident. The point is it was common as I've pointed out through links, and it wasn't deadly. Guns aren't the problem. That is the point and you have said NOTHING which would suggest otherwise.
