My A Team did not have a 4.2 mortar...Too heavy to haul by hand in the jungle.

We had one or two 60mm and an 81mm, one ma deuce 50 Cal. atop a machine-gun tower and a few 30 Cal A6s in fighting bunkers. Everyone else had an M16, CAR 15 or M2 30 Cal Carbine. I carried a CAR 15.

Our Montagnards handled the crew-served weapons.

That was not heavy considering we stopped an NVA tank and infantry attack the night of 3-4 March 1969.
It was however enough.

Anyone around Greensboro, NC, at 0830, on 3 March, I've been asked to speak about my 20 years service in SF at the The Black Cap breakfast meeting.

I promise my speech won't last 20 years...maybe 20 minutes.

BTW the new movie "12 Strong" depicts a sister A Team that stopped a tank attack in Afghanistan.
Awesome movie.
I've met most of that team...great American warriors and GBs...and a helluva movie...and accurate.
