Taking our eyes off the ball is a pretty serious downside. You can't solve problems that you cannot see.

So, assume we could get rid of AR15s overnight. And assume that the string of killings continued. When would you have another opportunity to address the problem, politically speaking?

I don't think you would favor attacking a problem without proper analysis. I wouldn't, either.

While it is true these weapons have been used in several mass shootings, and that the numbers killed and injured have been higher, it might be a mistake to assume that getting rid of them will have the effect of reducing the destruction.

There is value to be found I guess getting it right.
